Mplayer wird von der Gemeinde als der beste freie Media-Player (VideoPlayer, AudioPlayer) gewertet.

Association of File Types

When you install MPlayer, you are expected to associate it with certain file types. Then, you just click on the file you wish to play.
Easy, right?
If you wish to add more types after the installation, just run MPlayer Association Wizard from your MPlayer installation directory.

Key Bindings

MPlayer can bind keys to various commands, and this can be customized by editing input.ini. This file resides in Application Data\MPlayer on Windows 2000 and XP. On Windows 95/98/Me, this file resides in the MPlayer installation directory. By default, your most commonly useful keys/commands are:

  • (right) skip ahead a bit
  • (left) skip back a bit
  • (up) skip ahead a lot
  • (down) skip back a lot
  • f toggle fullscreen
  • d toggle ‘play on desktop’ setting
  • t toggle ‘stay on top’ setting
  • (space) pause
  • o change OSD level
  • 9 or / volume down
  • 0 or * volume up
  • m mute
  • a change audio tracks for DVD
  • s change subtitle tracks (DVD, ogg, matroska)
  • q quit

You can look at slave.txt to see a list of available commands. Feel free to tinker with input.ini and try differernt things. If you fear that you’ve screwed it up too badly, just delete input.ini completely. MPlayer will regenerate a new one from defaults.

Default Settings

The other thing that I need to mention is the mplayer.ini file. This is where you can change MPlayer’s default settings. For the most part, I suggest you not change things unless you know what they do. There are certain parts of that file that are commented as things that you may want to change.

Konvertieren ID3v2.4 in ID3v2.3

ID3-Tags der Version v2.4 sind vielfach problematisch. Man kann solche Tags konvertieren in v2.3 indem man wie folgt vorgeht:

  • Einstellen v2.3 als Standard-Format (Menue > Extras > Optionen > Tags > Mpeg > Schreiben > ID3v2.3 UTF-16
  • MP3-Datei, die v2.4 hat, selektieren und – unverändert – speichern. Schon hat man v2.3

Export

Die Tags kann man in eine CSV-datei exportieren.

Tags für Video-Dateien

Mit Mp3tag kann man auch die Tags von MP4-Videos bearbeiten. Bei AVI-Videos sind ja im Prinzip auch Tags möglich, aber die Software-Unterstützung dafür ist extrem bescheiden ( siehe TagTool für EVA8000 ).

Die Tags seine Video-Dateien möchte man ja beispielsweise mal als Gesamtauflistung z.B. als Excel-File oder in einer MediaLibrary sehen…

Im Moment überlege ich. ob es besser wäre nach eine MediaLibrary auf Basis von XMP-Sidecars oder gar auf Basis SQLite-Datenbanken zu suchen, etwa wie: MediaLibrarySQL, Daminion,…

Background

The Radium Codec is controlled by the Control Panel > Sounds und Audiogeräte > Hardware > Audio Codecs. Then you’ll see a ‘Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec (professional)’ Click on that and you’ll see a ‘settings button’. For your convenience we’ve made a little shortcut icon to this in the Radium codec installer.

There are two types of codecs – internal and external. In 1996 Fraunhofer released the first EXTERNAL Mpeg Layer-3 codec. Using that codec, any program with codec support (like SoundForge and Audiograbber) could make Mp3s. But that was the last external MP3 codec Fraunhofer released.

Since then Fraunhofer have much improved their Mpeg Layer-3 technology but now only license it for INTERNAL use in ‘Opticom Mp3 Producer Pro’ and ‘Audioactive Production Studio’. With this release igNorAMUS has taken the internal Producer Pro codec, and made it external again. At the same time he made some assembly level optimizations to the code to get between 5% to 12% speed increase when using ‘HQ’ mode on an Intel Pentium CPU. (See the graph included in the release). Note that these assembly optimizations do not affect the sound quality any – the output will still remain exactly the same as output from Opticom Mp3 Producer Pro v2.1

Die “Logarithmische Normalverteilung”, kurz auch “Log-Normalverteilung” genannt, ist eine Wahrscheinlichkeitsverteilung ohne negative Werte (der Logarithmus ist immer > 0). Aussderdem ist sie nicht symmetrisch (wie die klassische Normalverteilung, die Gaussche Glockenkurve sondern läuft zu den hohen Werten flacher aus.

Die Idee ist, das sich z.B. Preise log-normal verteilen, wenn die Rediten normalverteilt sind.
