Handspring Visor Edge

Über ebay habe ich mir im März 2005 als PDA einen Visor Edge ersteigert. Vorteil gegenüber meinem PalmV:

  • Der An- und Aus-Schalter ist “normal” gestaltet, nicht so völlig unsinning, wie beim PalmV, der sich immer von selbst einschaltete…
  • USB Cradle
  • 8 MByte Speicher
  • PalmOS 3.5

Die Synchronisation mit MicrosoftOutlook erfolgt über das auf der CD befindliche Pocket Mirror 2.0.3 von Chapura.

Beim Installieren auf meinem Windows2000 Professional gab es zwei kleine “Problemchen”:

  • Die alte PalmDesktop und PalmHotSync-Software musse erst deinstalliert werden
  • Der USB-Treiber visorusb.sys wurde nicht automatsch installiert, sondern musste “mit der Hand” ausgewählt werden

AstroInfo

In addition to the basic program, there are a number of optional files you can install if you choose. It is recommended that you install at least the first two:

dstrules.pdb:
A list of rules for daylight savings time. It contains predefined rules for most countries.
Stars.pdb:
A catalog of bright stars up to magnitude 5.00. Stars are identified by their constellation, Beyer letter, and SAO number.
Messier.pdb:
The Messier catalog – The classic list of famous stellar objects.
Caldwell.pdb:
The Caldwell catalog – A modern counterpart to the Messier catalog, the Caldwell catalog is a list of some of the most interesting objects in our skies.
Astro.pdb:
Some documentation on Astro Info, in DOC format.
Location.pdb:
A list of cities and their latitude and longitude, in DOC format.
License.pdb:
The Gnu General Public License, in DOC format. This license governs the copying and distribution of Astro Info.
